Comment
The topic of this course is the 2020 US election and its aftermath. We will begin with a brief overview of the US electoral system and then analyze the results and main issues at the heart of the election. Issues that will be discussed include: voter demographics; the urban/suburban vs. rural divide; the state of the US economy; the Black Lives Matter movement and systemic racism; crime and police reform; and the COVID-19 response. Special attention will be paid to political ads and American views of leadership. Students will have to complete a short project on an assigned topic and pass an exam to get credit for the course. Course requirements: OPT 85+
