Online: https://onlinephilfak.uni-erfurt.de/ Prerequisites: The topic for this American Studies course is "The American Presidency". We will discuss the duties and privileges of the executive branch of government, then examine the election process itself. In the second half of the course, we will look at the administrations of several important presidents and discuss their successes and failures, with particular reference to how certain presidential decisions have affected the course of events or even changed the course of history. Students will be required to follow media coverage of the highly controversial Trump administration and give a research presentation on a past issue or related topic. There will also be an exam at the end of term.
