Comment
The course provides an introduction to international climate governance. Starting with the UN climate negotiations, we will analyze how the international community seeks to govern environmental problems related to the changing climate and why it is so challenging to have global climate agreements. We will have a look at different aspects of climate governance, such as different levels of decision making, questions about representation, the responsibility of mitigation, climate change as a threat to peace and climate change as a driver of migration. Climate change will affect and/or already affects all people. However, not everyone is/will be equally affected by the changing climate. Therefore, in this seminar, by looking at different case studies we will put a special focus on the Global South and its role, possibilities and needs in global climate governance.
