https://www.uni-erfurt.de/to/4tOdSzBtMlGixhQ - Das Miteinander der Geschlechter in der griechisch-römischen Antike war teilweise anders geregelt als bei uns heute. Geprägt vom Prinzip der „Phallokratie“ gestattete es nur denen, die als Männer gelten durften, aktive Funktion bei sexuellen Handlungen, also Freien, die die erste Bartschur hinter sich hatten und angesehene Berufe ausübten. Nur sie galten (in Abweichung von den biologischen Voraussetzungen) als „männlich“, als „weiblich“ dagegen außer Frauen und Mädchen auch Knaben, alte Männer und Sklaven, und dieser Gruppe war beim Sex die passive Rolle zugewiesen. Mit Blick auf den historischen Hintergrund sollen Texte griechischer und römischer Dichter von der archaischen Zeit bis in die Spätantike betrachtet werden, u.a. Sappho, Anakreon, Philodemos von Gadara, Catull, Horaz, Ovid, Martial und die griechischen Epigrammatiker der Kaiserzeit. Außerdem wollen wir dem Thema im einzigen Buch zur antiken Traumdeutung nachgehen. Griechisch- und Lateinkenntnisse werden nicht vorausgesetzt. Prüfungsleistung: mündl./prakt. Prüfung (40%) i.V.m. schriftl. Arbeit (60%)

https://www.uni-erfurt.de/to/4tOdSzBtMlGixhQ - Interaction between the sexes in ancient Greece and Rome was obviously governed by rules that differed in part from those that apply today. The dictates of a "phallocratic" society meant that only persons who fulfilled the conventional qualifications for manhood - only, that is, free citizens of an age to be shaved and employed in respectable professions - were allowed to take the active role in sexual acts. These individuals alone were classed (in a significant deviation from biological norms) as male, while the term female comprised not only women and girls, but also boys, old men, and slaves, all of whom were required to play the passive sexual role. Taking this socio-historical background into consideration, we shall be looking at texts written by Greek and Roman poets ranging from the archaic period to late antiquity, among them Sappho, Anacreon, Philodemus of Gadara, Catullus, Horace, Ovid, Martial, and the epigrammatists of the imperial age; we shall also explore the topic in the only dream-manual we have from the ancient world. Proficiency in Greek and Latin is not a requirement.
