Comment
In this course students will practice constructing persuasive arguments on current events topics in written form, using advanced grammar and vocabulary as well as appropriate register. They will work on such skills as: making and substantiating a claim; analyzing strong vs. weak arguments; paragraphing; writing introductions and conclusions; proofreading; correct punctuation; and using quotes and citations correctly and effectively. Students will be expected to complete weekly vocab and grammar quizzes along with in-class writing exercises. At the end of the course students will have to submit a writing portfolio.
