Comment
Achieving the Paris climate target of “well below 2 degrees” of global warming, the global energy system needs to decarbonize. This means switching from a fossil fuel-based system to one that relies on renewables and low carbon technologies. This seminar will assess key aspects of the energy transition, including the politics of climate change mitigation; questions related to distributional justice; the political economy of national decarbonization; and the opportunities of and barriers to systemic change. It will discuss pertinent aspects including financial flows, the economics of going low carbon, and the role of technology and policy.
