Comment
What are the divisive issues affecting American politics and society in general? What stories, traditions or institutions have helped to establish, strengthen and indeed challenge a common (national) identity and sense of social solidarity in an increasingly diverse and globalized world? These are the questions that will be addressed in this social and cultural studies course. By exploring current debates through a sociopolitical lens, students will develop a deeper understanding of the forces and actors currently shaping the U.S. social and political landscape. At the same time, all four language skills will be practiced and developed in context. Entrance requirement: OPT score of 75+
