Comment
This course explores the increasing polarization in the United States through a social and cultural lens. We will critically examine the concept of polarization itself—how it is defined, measured, and framed in public discourse. By analyzing historical, political, and socio-economic factors, students will investigate key issues such as media influence, identity politics, and regional disparities. Through readings, discussions, and case studies, the course fosters a deeper understanding of U.S. culture and society while developing intercultural competence. By engaging with diverse perspectives, students will assess the complexities of American polarization and its broader implications. A placement test (DPT) score of 75+ is required for participation in this course.
