Register online for this course: https://onlinephilfak.uni-erfurt.de/ Prerequisite: 40 - 59 points in the OPT. The course is designed particularly for students who are studying English as a subsidiary subject, but it is also intended for other groups of students wishing to improve both their knowledge and skills in the field of grammatical terminology and practice. There will be a special focus on phenomena such as parts of speech (nouns, adjectives, adverbs, articles and prepositions). It is a pedagogically oriented grammar course using practice material taken from a wide range of grammar books, student workbooks and textbooks aimed at both school and university levels. The course requires both a practical knowledge of English grammar together with familiarity with basic traditional grammatical terminology. Participants are expected to be prepared to take an active part in classroom activities. The course requires the following book which should be obtained by any student wishing to participate: Michael Vince: Macmillan English Grammar In Context. Advanced with Key. ISBN 978-1-4050-7052-2. Assessment will be based on a variety of written tasks/tests taken throughout the course including a mid-term and a final test.
