Comment
This course is the continuation of a course in WiSe 2020/21 that examined the last three months of Nazi rule, the three-month occupation of Thuringia by American forces, and the first three months of the Soviet occupation. In Part 2, students and their academic advisors will review the materials collected in Part 1 and select which interviews or other documents representing wider experiences will serve as the basis for a comprehensive exhibition covering the entire history. A core component of this StuFu will be that the students jointly decide which sources and materials to use and how to interpret them, and then prepare to present them to the public in an exhibition that will be shown throughout Thuringia. Special attention will be paid to comparisons between aspects of life under the three systems imposed by the three powers that ruled at that time, for example: governance, press and other media, social and cultural life, education, religion, economy, urban life, village life and agriculture, etc. The stufu develops basic knowledge of exhibition design (formulation of exhibition texts, presentation in space/on panels, use of digital instruments, interaction formats, etc.) and applies it to the exhibition in an exemplary way. The project takes place in cooperation with pupils of the Andreas-Gordon-School/Erfurt. The course is aimed both at participants of the course from WiSe 2020/21 and at new participants.
