Comment
The number of feminist foreign policies is growing worldwide as the political salience of the concept increases. Against this backdrop, this module offers an in-depth interrogation of feminist foreign policy (FFP) as a concept and practice. The first part of the module will briefly introduce foundational concepts, including foreign policy, diplomacy, feminism, and FFP itself. The second part of the module will consider the roots of FFP and how peace activism, anti-colonial thought, and state feminism have contributed to its development. The third part of the module will allow for a closer look at existing FFPs via case-based analyses and a discussion of the external relations that are part of FFP (e.g., security policy, development, trade). The final part of the course will offer space for a critical interrogation, focusing on the relationship of FFP to coloniality and global hierarchies as well as knowledge production on FFP. Please note this module starts on 12 April.
