Comment
This seminar explores the myths that have shaped American identity, past and present. Our main text will be Richard Slotkin’s "A Great Disorder: National Myth and the Battle for America" (2024), which examines how competing national stories continue to define U.S. politics and culture today. Students will analyze these myths critically, connect them to current events, and reflect on how narratives of belonging and exclusion still influence American society. At the same time, all four language skills will be practiced and developed in context. A placement test score of 75+ points is required for participation.
